- ➤ Battle Creek organizers will host the MLK Prayer Brunch at Hart-Dole Inouye Federal Center on Saturday, Jan. 17, featuring keynote speaker U.S. Rep. James E. - ➤ Firefighters responded to a fire at Post Consumer Brands in Battle Creek on Sunday afternoon when an oven on the fourth floor exceeded normal temperatures, and they extinguished the blaze within an hour with no injuries reported. 102.7 WFAT

- ➤ During this cold spell, harmless springtails—also called snow fleas—are noticeable in moist areas of Battle Creek as they jump on melted snow and near indoor water sources; the tiny insects help decompose organic matter without causing harm. Battle Creek Enquirer
