- ➤ Gas prices in the Midwest slightly increased on Monday, Jan. 15 with regular fuel at $2.60 per gallon compared with $2.58 last week (6.3% below the national average) while last year they averaged $2.90 per gallon. Battle Creek Enquirer

- ➤ Battle Creek middle schoolers can submit essays for the National Civics Bee until Feb. 3 to compete for up to $100K in prizes and national recognition (in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary), as the local Chamber of Commerce partners with the U.S. Chamber Foundation.
