- ➤ The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office will host a hunter education Field Day on Feb. 28 at the Marshall Regional Law Enforcement Center - this required in-person training is free and will include a working lunch and safety demonstrations without live fire. Battle Creek Enquirer

- ➤ Yellow fumewort, a rare native plant that blooms during winter, is found in wooded areas of southwest Michigan and is now listed as threatened. It grows in Berrien, Calhoun, and Kalamazoo counties and avoids competition by completing its life cycle when most plants rest. Battle Creek Enquirer
