  • Hans Schuler, longtime owner and civic leader of Schuler’s Restaurant & Pub, died Tuesday at age 88 in Marshall. He helped grow the family business from its 1909 origins until selling it in 2019 to secure its future in the community.  102.7 WFAT

CULTURE NEWS

  • Sky watchers can anticipate the snow moon peaking at 5:09 p.m. on Feb. 1, followed by a planetary parade featuring Mercury, Venus, Neptune, Saturn, Uranus and Jupiter on Feb. 28. A lunar eclipse with a blood moon will occur March 2-3, peaking on March 3 for a brief period.  Battle Creek Enquirer

  • A 2024 TRIP study shows Michigan drivers face extra vehicle repair costs from potholes created by warming temperatures; Battle Creek drivers pay an average of $749 a year amid 40% of major roads being in poor condition.  Battle Creek Enquirer

  • Kellogg Community College is accepting applications for accredited health sciences programs including nursing, dental hygiene, radiography and physical therapist assistant courses. Deadlines are staggered this spring from March 2 to Aug. 13 at the KCC Battle Creek campus.  Battle Creek Enquirer
  • Kellogg Community College offers free CNA training to eligible Battle Creek residents this spring; courses run from March 9 through May 7 at 450 North Ave from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, and applicants must apply online by Feb. 13 (STEP UP program) while completing a background check.  Battle Creek Enquirer
