ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Emergency crews responded to a tornado that hit Sherwood and Union Townships just before 5 p.m. Friday, causing injuries and structural damage along Blossom Road, Tuttle Road and Prairie Rose Lane — and they searched homes for trapped residents near a command center set at the intersection of Tuttle and Prairie Rose Lanes.  102.7 WFAT

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Ford is repurposing its Kentucky battery plant to produce battery energy storage systems for utilities and data centers, with production expected to start in late 2027. It will also produce smaller units in Marshall for residential energy storage.  Battle Creek Enquirer

  • Calhoun County Sheriff's Office warned residents that counterfeit fentanyl pills disguised as candy, vitamins, and prescription medications have been found across West Michigan, urging people to take only medicine prescribed by a licensed doctor.  FOX 17

  • Southwest Michigan job fairs will offer dozens of openings this March, including an event at Michigan Works (200 W. Van Buren St.) in Battle Creek where employers from healthcare, education, and manufacturing will seek qualified candidates.   • Regional finals in boys basketball concluded March 5 and winners now advance to Tuesday’s quarterfinal matchups set at neutral sites, except for one upset team that earned a hosting spot — game times range from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.  Battle Creek Enquirer
  • Battle Creek Battle Jacks have partnered with the Michigan Baseball Hall of Fame to honor the city’s rich baseball legacy. The agreement—announced on March 6—will bring stadium exhibits, heritage nights, and historical storytelling through the 2026 season and beyond at MCCU Field at C.O.
