CRIME NEWS

  • An 18 year old Kalamazoo man was arrested on Saturday morning after a 150 mph chase on westbound Interstate 94 near Albion — he refused to pull over and was later found with a fraudulent driver's license while facing several felony and misdemeanor charges.  102.7 WFAT
  • Two men were charged with stealing thousands of altered gift cards from Meijer stores in Michigan—authorities said the suspects removed unsold cards to record and reset redemption numbers before the fraud was uncovered.  FOX 17
  • Calhoun County will host the Kinship Connecting & Healing event on April 7 from 1 to 6 p.m. at First Congregational Church as part of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. The event will feature speakers and local agencies hosting informational booths (a candlelight vigil at 5:45 p.m. will honor crime victims and survivors).  Battle Creek Enquirer

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State officials have planned a statewide tornado drill at 1 p.m. tomorrow to help residents prepare for severe weather – the drill is part of Severe Weather Awareness Week and follows Michigan’s average of 15 tornadoes a year. This event urges residents to know their shelter options and follow NOAA updates during a warning.  Battle Creek Enquirer

SPORTS NEWS

  • AccessVision announced its spring high school sports schedule that will kick off on March 19 with a boys varsity lacrosse game at Lakeview High School between Lakeview and Mona Shores. Games will be recorded during the week and broadcast on Comcast channels 17 and 917 — along with U-Verse Channel 99 and online — and weather delays may change the schedule.  Battle Creek Enquirer
