CRIME NEWS

  • Battle Creek police arrested a woman aged 41 in connection with a stabbing after officers were dispatched near East Michigan Avenue and Division Street just before 6 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19 when they found a woman aged 47 with a stab wound to her right thigh who said the incident occurred between 3 and 4 a.m.—the suspect was later detained at 190 East Michigan Avenue and is now held at Calhoun County Jail.  City of Battle Creek

HEALTH NEWS

  • A customer report of a potential choking incident led Nestlé USA to recall select Lean Cuisine and Stouffer's frozen meals in Michigan. The recall covers items produced between August 2024 and March 2025—customers should not cook or eat these meals and can return them to the store for a refund or replacement.  Battle Creek Enquirer
  • Today, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization said the H5N1 bird flu spread is unprecedented + it has wiped out hundreds of millions of poultry worldwide. Michigan officials reported six cases in backyard and commercial flocks where infected birds were culled + the USDA is investing $1 billion to slow the outbreak and protect food supplies.  FOX 17

  • After last year's team made it to the NJCAA World Series, Kellogg CC baseball now aims to return with a young roster that includes local Lakeview twins Zach and Jake Kucharczyk—who have made an early impact this season.
