CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 43-year-old man was taken to Calhoun County Jail by Battle Creek Police for indecent exposure and died Sunday morning after deputies found him unresponsive in an observation area — authorities are investigating his death. FOX 17
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Attorney and mother Tammy Myers said she is relieved new surrogacy law changes starting April 2 will simplify the process—allowing surrogates to be paid and ensuring parentage orders are issued before birth. She had to adopt her twins when her breast cancer made it unsafe for her to carry another child and hopes the new law will prevent this hardship for other families. FOX 17
- ➤ VA Secretary Doug Collins is touring the Battle Creek VA Medical Center today as he meets with facility leaders and veterans to discuss plans for modernizing the Federal EHR system. He is joined by Congressman Bill Huizinga and Congressman Tom Barrett to focus on improving VA care. 102.7 WFAT
- ➤ The Michigan Department of Transportation began work this week on the Marshall Modernization Project to upgrade M-96 into a four-lane boulevard from east of Eden Street to I-69, add an auxiliary lane on I-69 between Michigan Avenue and I-94, and rebuild the I-69 interchange as a diverging diamond interchange — all while keeping at least one lane open in each direction. Future work in 2026 and 2027 will include ramp closures with dates to be announced, converting M-96 further west and resurfacing I-94 between major exits. 102.7 WFAT
