- ➤ Springfield and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office are investigating water discoloration in Helmer Creek first reported Tuesday, though the color has faded. Officials from CCSO Emergency Management and EGLE are using drones to locate the unknown source and advise residents to avoid the creek. 102.7 WFAT

- ➤ The American Heart Association is funding local food pantries to purchase refrigerators and coolers that store fresh fruits and vegetables — grants range from $1,000 to $3,000 for sites including Baxter Community Center and Reeths-Puffer Schools — as rising grocery and gas costs heighten the need for food assistance.
