ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On April 7 at 11:10 a.m., the Battle Creek Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 31 W Rittenhouse Ave where crews arrived within three minutes and quickly extinguished a blaze on the second floor using a handline — no injuries were reported — and damage was estimated at $12,000 for the property and $2,500 for contents while the cause remains under investigation. BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Target in Michigan has recalled nearly 200,000 Vivitar Blender Bottles due to a risk of lacerations, according to manufacturer Sakar. Customers who bought the bottles in-store and online between December 2024 and January 2025 must stop using them and return them for a refund—instructions are provided by the recall notice. - ➤ City crews will close Goodale Ave. E from April 9 at 7 a.m. until the end of April 11 — the road between North Ave. and Washington Ave. N will be shut for lead service line replacement, as officials replace lead pipes with copper and high-density polyethylene to improve water quality. - ➤ On Sunday morning the Tigers announced that first pitch times for their series with the New York Yankees were moved earlier because forecasted wind chills in the 20s and other weather concerns prompted the change — the new times are 3:10 p.m. on Monday, April 7, 1:10 p.m. today, and 1:10 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9.
