- ➤ Charitable Union is offering free prom dresses for high school students until May 14 at its store at 85 Calhoun St. in Battle Creek; about 800 dresses in various styles are available and students must bring a student ID while schools may schedule group visits + the store is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 9 a.m. to noon on the second Saturday. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Battle Creek police arrested a 35-year-old man after shots were fired during a fight involving about 60 people near downtown at around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday (W Michigan Ave between S Cass St and N Washington Ave); authorities located his car, found a gun inside and charged him with multiple weapons offenses.
