- ➤ Be Cafe is opening an express shop in Koetsier’s Greenhouse that will serve free coffee Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and employ individuals with intellectual disabilities—barista Jenelle Woodrich, who recovered from a severe brain injury, said her job brings a sense of normalcy—while the organization prepares employees for broader opportunities. - ➤ Former U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers announced his bid for Michigan’s open U.S. Senate seat on Monday at 7 a.m.—he lost narrowly last year to Elissa Slotkin. He will run for the seat as Sen. Gary Peters retires and several candidates prepare to enter the race. Battle Creek Enquirer

- ➤ The USDA issued a public health alert on April 11 for several soup brands in Michigan that may contain pieces of wood, affecting products sold in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio.
