  • Monarch butterflies from overwintering sites in Mexico are nearing Michigan — Journey North maps show sightings near northern Indiana that signal the insects will soon begin their summer breeding season in April and May.  Battle Creek Enquirer

FINANCE NEWS

  • No winner was declared in Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing, leaving local players to hope for a jackpot of at least $150 million. The next drawing will occur on Friday, April 24 at 11 p.m. as tickets remain available until 10:45 p.m.  Battle Creek Enquirer

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Calhoun County 911 held its annual awards ceremony on Wednesday, Apr. 22 to honor telecommunicators during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week — Alyssa Stanfield was named Employee of the Year and Kurnin Albrecht became the first recipient of the newly renamed Larissa Griffith Award of Excellence in Service.  Battle Creek Enquirer
  • State lawmakers introduced a package of environmental bills yesterday aimed at regulating PFAS and proposing a green amendment to guarantee clean air and water for residents. Supporters expect a long fight as steep partisan opposition may block the proposals.  Michigan Public Radio

  • Dr. Diana Bitner from True Women’s Health discussed fertility insights today during Fertility Awareness Month — urging men and women to seek expert advice if facing infertility challenges.  FOX 17

SPORTS NEWS

  • Seven Pennfield athletes (including football standout Gavin May and basketball leader Johnny Lake) held a signing ceremony at Pennfield High School on April 22 where they announced their college plans.
