  • Residents can learn about native turtles and try watercolor painting at a workshop on May 21, 6-7:30 p.m., at the W.K. Kellogg Bird Sanctuary in Augusta. Registration is required by May 19 and fees are $25 for members and $35 for non-members.  Battle Creek Enquirer
  • Six high school seniors were named April Students of the Month today by the Battle Creek Rotary Club for excellence in academics, leadership and community service — the awards honor local students from various high schools.  Battle Creek Enquirer

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Experts at Michigan State University Extension say local gardeners can plant native wildflowers, herbs, and shrubs to help support over 400 bee species active this spring. The group warns that climate change and habitat loss threaten bees and that these steps may boost the vital pollinators.  Battle Creek Enquirer
