EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kellogg Community College was named one of West Michigan’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For—an honor from the National Association for Business Resources that also recognized its strong focus on employee wellness.  Battle Creek Enquirer
  • Battle Creek Public Schools voters will consider a $27.5 million bond proposal on Tuesday that aims to upgrade school security, playgrounds, and CW Stadium while improving aging facilities. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on May 6.  Battle Creek Enquirer

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City water crews in Battle Creek will begin the annual hydrant flushing process tomorrow, May 4, working overnight from 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. until the three‐week process is complete — residents may notice cloudy water and should run cold water taps if needed.  City of Battle Creek
  • Michigan flags are at half staff today to honor U.S. Army Staff Sgt Troy S. Knutson-Collins from Battle Creek who died in a training accident in Lithuania — officials said the flags will be raised to full staff later today.  Battle Creek Enquirer

  • Julia Faber of Harper Creek was named Enquirer Athlete of the Week after earning 64 percent of fan votes by the 5 p.m. Wednesday deadline. She won four events at the All-City Track Championship—winning the 800, 1,600, and 3,200 races and helping her team secure a 3,200 relay victory.  Battle Creek Enquirer
