  • Shelby Grable is the new director of the Calhoun County Girls On The Run program and took over the role her mother once held while leading nearly 500 girls in a non-competitive 5K run Saturday, May 17 at Harper Creek High School Track—offering them life lessons and a healthy start.  Battle Creek Enquirer

CRIME NEWS

  • Calhoun County police are asking for help to find 15-year-old Glenn Brown, who went missing on May 7 after leaving Pennfield High School and entering a wooded area—he is about 5 feet 11 inches tall with blond hair, blue eyes, and no cell phone.  FOX 17
  • A 1- or 2-year-old girl walking alone in Homer was found on May 13 at 430 South Byron Street and safely returned to her family—she was wearing a pink jacket, pink pants, and no shoes.  FOX 17

SPORTS NEWS

  • Battle Creek professional golfer Andrew Walker advanced past a local qualifier in South Bend, Ind to earn a spot in the U.S. Open final qualifying round on June 2—this step brings him closer to his dream of competing in the U.S. Open. Walker, a member of the Advocates Professional Golf Association Tour, said his new swing and mental coaching have boosted his game.  Battle Creek Enquirer
  • Meijer LPGA Classic returns for its 11th year on June 12 at Blythefield Country Club and will raise funds for food pantries across West Michigan. The tournament has raised over $12 million through Simply Give (supporting local pantries such as Saint Alphonsus) and ticket sales have already surpassed last year's.  FOX 17
