- ➤ On Thursday night, May 21, about 6.7 million birds flew over Michigan during spring migration, as researchers urged residents to turn off outdoor lights between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. The measure cut energy use + reduced skyglow to help keep birds safe. Battle Creek Enquirer
- ➤ Battle Creek received a $3,300 grant from Michigan Clean Water Corps that will fund volunteer stream cleanups and equipment purchases between June and September. City officials said the funding will help protect wildlife habitat and improve water quality along the Kalamazoo and Battle Creek rivers (supporting local conservation efforts). Battle Creek Enquirer
