- ➤ The National Cereal Festival returns downtown on June 13 from 8 a.m. to noon along McCamly Street, offering free cereal, milk, juice, live music, games and kids’ activities. The event kicks off a parade at 6:30 p.m. on June 12 at the Kool Center + celebrates Battle Creek’s cereal heritage. Battle Creek Enquirer
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Former Congressman Joe Schwarz, a longtime Battle Creek public servant who also served in the state Senate, died at 88 on May 28. In his final words he urged neighbors to work together for common solutions amid growing partisanship. Michigan Public Radio

- ➤ Marshall's Lola Saber was named the Bronson Battle Creek/Enquirer Athlete of the Week today after receiving 69 percent of fan votes and scoring the only goal in the 1 to 1 tie against Harper Creek that clinched the Interstate 8 Conference title. Battle Creek Enquirer
- ➤ The Michigan Youth Pickleball Association launched its structured program in January for kids ages 8–18 in West Michigan, offering film study sessions, practice three days a week & seven competition events each season to help young players build skills for competitive play. FOX 17
