- ➤ Nearly 100 people attended on May 7 the first Battle Creek Nonprofit Convening hosted by the Battle Creek Community Foundation, which replaced its annual grant-writing workshop to focus on new fundraising strategies. The event featured speakers such as Stephanie Slingerland from Kellanova and Greg Moore from Consumers Energy Foundation — and was sponsored by Clark Hill PLC, Nuveen and the State of Michigan Charitable Gaming Division. - ➤ Smoke from Canadian wildfires is affecting air quality in Battle Creek—smoke arrived on May 30 as winds and dry air fueled the blazes in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
