  • Since May, ITC has flown helicopters to inspect high-voltage transmission lines across the Lower Peninsula—Calhoun County inspections are scheduled for June 12-17 while other counties have set dates, weather permitting. The patrols check for equipment damage and vegetation hazards as required by North American Electrical Reliability Corporation standards.  Battle Creek Enquirer

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Michigan Department of Transportation advises drivers to use the zipper merge—alternately merging when lanes reduce—to ease congestion in construction zones. Officials will discuss this method on the upcoming Talking Michigan Transportation podcast, which also highlights safety measures like rumble strips and the Ghost Rider program.  Battle Creek Enquirer
