- ➤ SpartanNash, a West Michigan grocery chain from Byron Township, is set to merge with New Hampshire-based C&S Wholesale Grocers in a $1.77 billion deal that will take effect near the end of 2025—this merger will form a company with nearly 60 distribution centers supporting 10,000 independent retailers and over 200 corporate stores while needing regulatory and shareholder approval. - ➤ Consumers Energy set summer rates on June 1 that will run until Sept. 30—weekday peak hours from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. cost 23 cents per kilowatt-hour while other times cost 18 cents, and customers can lower bills by using smart thermostats, pre-cooling their homes, and joining the Critical Peak Pricing Program for credits on avoided usage.
