ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Yesterday, the Battle Creek Fire Department responded at 10:20 a.m. to a fire at Big Boy Restaurant on West Columbia Avenue—staff evacuated all occupants while firefighters worked to extinguish the flames and clear heavy smoke, no injuries were reported, and the restaurant will be closed temporarily for repairs as the fire origin remains under investigation. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Regional gas prices dropped from $3.09 to $3.05 per gallon for regular fuel last week according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration — prices in the Midwest were 3.6% lower than the national average and 9% lower than a year ago. Battle Creek Enquirer

- ➤ A Battle Creek manufacturer, Bleistahl North America, has agreed to pay $2.3M to settle allegations that it falsely certified having no more than 300 employees to qualify for a PPP loan — the settlement resolves the claims without a determination of liability. WOOD TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Calhoun County invites local organizations to apply for opioid prevention, harm reduction, treatment and recovery programs using $600,000 from settlement funds; eligible applicants must have a primary office in the county.
