- ➤ Battle Creek city officials welcomed Ferrero after its planned acquisition of W.K. Kellogg Co., saying the company has long supported the community. Interim City Manager Ted Dearing and Mayor Mark Behnke expect Ferrero to keep Battle Creek as the North America cereal headquarters + build a strong long‐term relationship locally. - ➤ Battle Creek Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened late Wednesday night when a 23-year-old man received multiple gunshot wounds in the 100 block of South Burdge Street — officers say the suspect fled the scene and they request any tips from the public. 102.7 WFAT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ MPSC approved two new electric transmission lines Thursday. One line will run 55 miles from the Michigan-Indiana border in Gilead Township through Branch County to a substation in Calhoun County — the approval activates eminent domain for land acquisition amid local objections. 102.7 WFAT
- ➤ A boil water advisory is in effect today along Columbia Avenue between Wa Wee Nork Drive and La Vista Boulevard—residents must boil water for 2 minutes before drinking it while bathing water remains safe, and officials expect testing results to confirm water quality soon. WOOD TV
