- ➤ Gas prices in Michigan fell by 12-cents a gallon this week as Triple-A Michigan reported an average of $3.15—15-cents lower than last month and 50-cents less than last year. Ann Arbor had the highest price at $3.22 while Marquette recorded the lowest at $3.02, and filling a 15-gallon tank cost about $47. 102.7 WFAT

- ➤ Lakeview School District is hosting a free community spelling bee for all ages on Saturday, Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Blackbox Theater in Lakeview High School (15060 Helmer Road South, Battle Creek) to engage local participants. Battle Creek Enquirer

- ➤ During its July 15 meeting, the Battle Creek City Commission narrowed the pool for the city manager job to four finalists + set interviews for next month. - ➤ In June, Calhoun County homes listed for sale had a median price of $249,950 — a 5.5% rise from May's $237,000 and lower than June 2024's $262,437.
