- ➤ Binder Park Zoo in Newton Township will host its Tour de Zoo event on Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.—tickets cost $50 and include free zoo swag and one complimentary beverage from New Belgium Brewing Company—and visitors are encouraged to wear costumes to compete for prizes. WOOD TV

- ➤ The Battle Creek Police Department investigated a shots fired incident that happened Tuesday night on the 100 block of Freedom Lane when a bullet entered an apartment window—shell casings were found and bullets struck two apartments and a vehicle though police believe they were not the intended targets. 102.7 WFAT

- ➤ Residents in Battle Creek may hear loud noises and see increased military activity today as the 110th Wing Air National Guard begins the Northern Strike training exercise at Battle Creek Executive Airport (running until Aug. 12). The controlled training includes ground burst simulators and simulated active shooter drills and involves over 7,500 participants (from 36 states and nine international partners). WOOD TV

- ➤ Michigan health officials say updated COVID-19 vaccines will protect nearly everyone aged 6 months and older including pregnant women — studies show the vaccine cuts children's urgent care visits by 65 to 70%.
