- ➤ Wildfire smoke from Canadian boreal fires continues to drift over Michigan this summer—air quality alerts have been issued as communities face poor visibility. The National Wildland Fire Situation Report noted 60 uncontrolled wildfires among more than 3,500 total fires across Canada as firefighters work to control the blazes amid rising temperatures. - ➤ Smoke from Canadian wildfires reduced air quality in Michigan and other states as AirNow data from August 5 showed areas were unhealthy for sensitive groups—reports noted that wildfires had burned nearly 1.5 million acres across Canada by July 30, raising health concerns for those with breathing problems.
