ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A house fire on Grand Circle Avenue on Aug. 9 claimed one life and killed two dogs as firefighters responded after an 8:40 a.m. 911 call and police assisted while the fire marshal began investigating the blaze. Battle Creek Enquirer

- ➤ Target’s Favorite Day Bakery Frosted Sugar Cookies from Canada were recalled on July 22 for potential wood contamination, with 803 cases distributed in 20 states and Washington, D.C. Michigan consumers should check the product (lot 25195, UPC 85239-41250) before use. Battle Creek Enquirer

- ➤ Battle Creek Battle Jacks ended a close 2025 season under new owner Scott Miles, who said fans, sponsors and staff made his first season a success. Manager Ben Harley left the team for a full-time coaching job at St. Martins while general manager Brody Conaty said plans are underway to return next season — the team will open for a fresh start in 2026.
