- ➤ A Battle Creek driver faces charges after a crash last month that killed a Calhoun Community High School senior and seriously injured a female passenger—blood tests showed high alcohol levels and charges include operating while intoxicated, reckless driving causing death and serious injury with the driver's name withheld pending arraignment. 102.7 WFAT
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The DNR has stocked 18,958,000 fish in Michigan waters this year to boost fishing and balance ecosystems — crews worked 2,345 hours on 417 trips covering 91,000 miles to service 716 sites. Additional stockings will occur in the fall to add more fish. Battle Creek Enquirer

- ➤ Battle Creek city commissioners unanimously named Amanda Zimmerlin as the new city manager—she served as manager in Clayton from February and as assistant manager in Springdale from 2016 to 2020. - ➤ Michigan police will increase DUI patrols from Aug 15 to Sept 1 as part of the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign to reduce impaired driving crashes during the busy Labor Day travel period.
