  • ProTec will open a second facility in Battle Creek today using a $300,000 state grant and create at least 50 jobs paying $25 per hour with benefits — nearly $4 above the regional wage. CRIME NEWS

  • Battle Creek police warned residents today about an email scam that sends fraudulent rezoning invoices from what appears to be an official city account—two reports have been received and officials advise contacting police or Silent Observer if suspicious emails appear.  102.7 WFAT
  • Calhoun County deputies arrested a 28-year-old Battle Creek man—whose Springfield home linked him to items stolen on Monday—on Tuesday after he was caught breaking into vehicles at a dealership on W Dickman Road while another suspect fled.  WOOD TV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A guided bird walk is scheduled for Sept. 13 at the W.K. Kellogg Bird Sanctuary from 9 to 10:30 a.m.—participants will meet at the Resource Center building and then head to Wintergreen Lake to see migratory birds and learn how insects support their journey. The event requires registration with a group size between four and 20 and fees that range from $4 for children to $8 for non-member adults.  Battle Creek Enquirer

HEALTH NEWS

  • Bronson Healthcare opened a new OB-GYN office at 363 Fremont St., Suite 305 next to Bronson Battle Creek Hospital to improve access and reduce wait times.
