  • Swift is up for adoption—through the Humane Society of West Michigan as part of Pet Adoption Tuesday—and she was seen giving a live kiss to Elliot during a recent photo shoot with her brother Kelce. The Humane Society is also asking for emergency fosters to temporarily shelter pets during crises.  FOX 17

CULTURE NEWS

  • KCC Theatre announced its 2025–26 season at the Binda Performing Arts Center on North Ave in Battle Creek, featuring two mainstage productions and two student showcases. Auditions for the fall murder-mystery 'Rehearsal for Murder' will be held Oct. 2–3 with shows on Nov. 14–16 and 21–23 while the spring musical 'Disaster!' has auditions on Dec. 4–5 and performances on March 6–8 and 13–15, and the annual 'Mich Mash' will appear on Dec. 12 and May 8.  Battle Creek Enquirer

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Today in West Michigan, gas prices are falling as the summer winds down, with rates expected to drop below $3.00 per gallon before drivers fill up this weekend—GasBuddy analyst Patrick De Haan noted a two-cent drop since Monday. The cheaper fall gasoline blend is poised to lower demand and further reduce prices.  FOX 17

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Calhoun County will hold hazardous waste collection events this fall at the Fairgrounds in Marshall on Sept. 15 and at Bailey Park in Battle Creek on Oct. 13, each running from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Residents can drop off items like paint, batteries & chemicals while following safe disposal guidelines.  Battle Creek Enquirer
