- ➤ Battle Creek Rotary Club 6360 received Rotary International's highest award—Club Excellence Award for 2024–25—for outstanding community service and leadership. Club President Rod Auton said members took part in projects that supported both local and global initiatives. Battle Creek Enquirer
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Kellogg Community College asks community members to submit name suggestions online to rename its C Classroom Building until 11:59 p.m. Oct 1—submissions must include a proposal, explanation, and contact details. The college’s Executive Cabinet will choose finalists in October before the Board of Trustees makes the final decision. Battle Creek Enquirer
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Recorded water temperatures across Michigan lakes show that inland waters such as Lake Hudson reached 71 degrees while Lake Erie stayed in the low 70s—Lake Superior remained cooler in the 60s. Temperatures in the Great Lakes will drop further as fall approaches. Battle Creek Enquirer
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Michigan’s fall hunting seasons will open in September as waterfowl, squirrel, rabbit, deer, bear and other hunts are scheduled by Michigan’s Department of Natural Resources (DNR) so hunters can plan ahead. Battle Creek Enquirer
