- ➤ Battle Creek police reported that on Monday at 3 p.m. a verbal dispute near Battle Creek High School turned violent when someone fired rounds, injuring one person who was treated and released + investigators continue to work on the case. 102.7 WFAT
- ➤ Calhoun County deputies reported that 47-year-old Dale Higley, who had a seizure and left his home near 15 ½ Mile Road and J Drive S in Fredonia Township on Sunday, is missing from an area eight miles south of Marshall—residents are asked to review security cameras for any clues as he may be in danger. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency said that about 350,000 people who filed for benefits during COVID must repay $2.7 billion—director Jason Palmer said the agency must follow the law while giving claimants a chance for a waiver. 102.7 WFAT
- ➤ Bronson Battle Creek Hospital will hold a drill on Sept. 12 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 300 North Ave to practice responses for tear gas and active shooter scenarios — emergency crews and volunteer actors will test multi-agency reaction times so residents should not be alarmed by extra vehicles nearby.
