- ➤ Two new Michigan laws required schools to teach families about safe firearm storage effective Oct. 1—local districts such as Northview, Comstock Park, and Kenowa Hills posted the required guidelines online, while the state health department sent best practices to schools. The law builds on earlier storage rules to ensure children are protected when firearms are at home. FOX 17
