- ➤ On Tuesday morning, gas prices in West Michigan fell below $3 a gallon as cheaper winter blend gasoline and lower crude oil prices drove the drop—local data showed Kent County at $2.76 per gallon and Kalamazoo County at $2.96, with experts advising drivers to fill up before the weekend for the best savings. - ➤ Lower Michigan has been very dry with a severe drought that has left two-thirds of the area with less precipitation than normal since last winter, affecting areas from Huron to Tuscola (west toward Lake Michigan) and lowering river and stream flows.
