  • Calhoun County will illuminate its buildings green from Nov. 4 to 11 to honor veterans as part of the fifth anniversary of Operation Green Light—an effort led by county organizations that invites residents and businesses to participate by converting one light bulb to green.  Battle Creek Enquirer
  • The Michigan State Police Fifth District is hosting a food drive from today to November 30 to support local families and food banks across southwest Michigan.   • Battle Creek high school teams played in Round 1 of state football playoffs with live scores reported for games involving Harper Creek, Climax-Scotts and Coldwater. Reporter Bill Broderick provided updates online — keeping local fans informed as the playoffs progress.  Battle Creek Enquirer
  • In high school football playoffs, No. 10 Climax-Scotts rallied in the second half to beat Gobles 72-62 on Oct. 31 at Gobles High School, improving to 8-2 and setting up a future game with undefeated Martin—Coldwater lost 49-14 to Lowell after an early 14-0 start and wins by Kent City at 28-22, Schoolcraft at 42-21, Bronson at 52-12 and Hanover-Horton at 44-6 advanced other local teams.  Battle Creek Enquirer
