- ➤ A 79-year-old driver was seriously injured when his car hit a disabled semi-truck blocking both lanes of 11 Mile Road in Burlington Township at 5:39 a.m. Tuesday (emergency crews rescued him for treatment while investigators looked into the crash). 102.7 WFAT
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Gas prices in the Midwest region rose slightly last week—averaging $3.10 per gallon for regular fuel on Monday up from $3.07. They are about 4.3% lower than the national average at $3.24 and have increased 20 cents since last month—after being 11% lower a year ago at $2.80. Battle Creek Enquirer
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Grand Valley State University said two international students had their visas revoked after staff reviewed Department of Homeland Security records following media reports of similar actions at other schools—officials have not been contacted by DHS about the revocations. FOX 17
- ➤ Registration for summer classes at Kellogg Community College is now open—summer classes begin May 19 and run through Aug. 7. Students can register online or in person at any of the five campuses and choose from over 130 courses that include trade training and online classes. Battle Creek Enquirer
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Conservation officers Sam Schluckbier and Carter Woodwyk from West Michigan will appear in a new episode of Wardens on Friday, April 11 at 9:00 p.m.—they will patrol the Kalamazoo River during Saugatuck's Venetian Festival and check on waterfowl hunters. The show will also profile the Michigan DNR’s Nature Awaits program that offers free state park visits for fourth graders. FOX 17

- ➤ The City Commission will interview finalists for the City Manager position on Thursday, April 10th at 5:30 p.m. at the City Hall Commission Chambers (10 N Division) in Battle Creek, and the meeting will end at 10:00 p.m. City of Battle Creek
- ➤ The Michigan Supreme Court hears arguments today in a custody battle over a frozen embryo from the divorce of Sarah and David Markiewicz—Sarah wants to use it for a future pregnancy while David opposes further genetic ties. Michigan Public Radio
